We begin with a complimentary consultation. Coaching services are conducted either in office or virtually through a secure video platform called Zoom. I find that some clients feel more comfortable and relaxed in their own private space which is highly beneficial to this process. If you choose the virtual sessions, I will email you the simple instructions to download Zoom for free and enjoy your sessions in the comfort of your own home.

Have you ever been completely absorbed in a book or movie? Do you dream while you are sleeping, day dream, or drive your car without remembering the entire trip? If so, you have experienced hypnosis. Studies show that on the average, we go into the hypnotic brainwave state several times a day!

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind where your conscious mind is relaxed, so that your subconscious mind can receive positive suggestions. Our subconscious mind is where our emotions, our memories, and our beliefs and habits live (both positive and negative).

It is important to know that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are in control at all times. A trained hypnotist cannot force you to do anything that you do not want to do.

While in hypnosis, you are very relaxed, fully conscious, and you can hear everything that is said. You are able to move, shift to get more comfortable, and even talk if you choose. You will remember as much as you would during normal

The subconscious mind stores all of our emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and memories. It contains our values and core beliefs. The subconscious mind is like a computer. Once it is programmed with a certain idea or belief, it will operate out of that idea until it is programmed with a new idea or belief.

Research indicates that it takes between 21 and 28 days of continuous reinforcement to form a new habit. During this time, clients who commit to at least 3-4 coaching sessions and listen to their 30 minute audio once a day, achieve the best results.

Recovery Coaching is a form of strengths-based support for people seeking recovery from addiction and their affected family members. As a NYS Certified Recovery Coach and SMART Recovery Facilitator, I help clients find their path to abstinence and/or help them to reduce the harm associated with their addictive behaviors.

As your recovery coach, I will assist you to make the right choices for your life and your recovery. I will connect you to the right community resources or help you to create a plan to recover on your own. I will help you to navigate the complex system of care by providing access to the following:

  •  Detox

  •  Inpatient Treatment

  •  Case Management

  •  Harm Reduction

  •  Family Support and Education

  •  Local or Online Support Groups

SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery is an evidence-based, 4Point Program®. The SMART Recovery program provides interactive tools and exercises to help you overcome addictive behaviors for good.

SMART Recovery also offers safe, friendly, and welcoming, mutual-aid meetings which are proven to help people to achieve sustainable change.

SMART Recovery is the leading self-empowerment addiction recovery support group. Participants learn tools for addiction recovery based on scientific research and are part of a world-wide community which includes free, self-empowering mutual help groups.

SMART Recovery helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviors including drugs, alcohol, gambling, food, and addictions to other substances and activities.

SMART Recovery is a program without spiritual or religious requirements. We believe the power to change addictive behaviors resides within each individual and does not depend upon adherence to any spiritual viewpoint. The use of religious or spiritual beliefs and practices in recovery is a personal choice and not a part of our program.

SMART Recovery can be either a primary or a supplemental recovery program so everyone is welcome!

SMART Recovery meetings provide mutual support. Meetings allow people to find and give social support to those in the group who wish to change (or are considering changing) harmful addictive behaviors to improve their lives. Discussion and exchange of useful information is welcome. Meetings introduce proven and practical tools and techniques for change. Meetings allow participants to share their problems, concerns and successes. Our meetings provide hope by example and the realization individuals are not alone in their struggles with addictions or addictive behaviors.

Recovery coaches do not offer primary treatment for addiction, do not diagnose, and are not associated with any particular method or means of recovery. As a recovery coach, I assist individuals coming home from treatment to avoid relapse, build community supports for recovery, and/or work on life goals not related to addiction such

as relationships, work, or education. Recovery coaching is action-oriented with an emphasis on improving present life and reaching future goals.

Recovery coaching is unlike therapy because coaches do not address the past or work to heal trauma. Recovery coaches are non-clinical and do not diagnose or provide primary treatment for addiction or any mental health issues. Recovery coaches support all pathways to recovery and encourage any positive change you are looking to make.

Life coaches work with clients to help them achieve goals, overcome obstacles, and make desired changes or shifts in their lives. Life-coaching is a partnership. Coaches understand that the client is the expert and already has the answers to create the positive change they seek. Coaches do not counsel or analyze the past. As your life coach, I will apply the principles of Positive Psychology to guide you towards the life of your dreams.

What is Positive Psychology?

Positive Psychology is an evidence-based practice that is primarily concerned with human potential. The term "Positive Psychology" was originally coined by psychologist Abraham Maslow in the 1950's. Maslow used the term to promote a more balanced view of human nature and focus on strengths rather than weaknesses. In 2002, Dr. Martin Seligman revolutionized Positive Psychology through his influential work Authentic Happiness, defining it as “the study of positive emotions and the strengths that enable individuals and communities to thrive."

Positive Psychology vs Traditional Psychology?

Where traditional psychology focuses on pathology and mental illness, positive psychology focuses on mental wellness. Positive psychology is a rapidly growing professional movement that is dedicated to the scientific research of personal fulfillment and what makes life worth living.

Positive Psychology is founded on the belief that people have a desire to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives, to cultivate what is best within themselves, and to enhance their experience of love, work, and play. Positive Psychology focuses on:

  •  Character Strengths (e.g. forgiveness, kindness, gratitude, creativity, curiosity)

  •  Meaning and Purpose

  •  Happiness, Positive Emotions and Well-Being

  •  Emotional and Social Intelligence

  •  Flow and Mindfulness

  •  Wisdom

  •  Hope and Optimism

  •  Positive Relationships

  •  Resilience

Life coaches do not offer primary treatment for mental illness and are not associated with any particular method or means of therapy. Life coaches do not address the past and do not work to heal trauma. Life coaches are non-clinical and do not diagnose or treat any mental health issues. Life coaches provide strengths-based support, focused on goals set by the client. Life coaching is action-oriented with an emphasis on improving present life and reaching future goals. Life coaches support any positive change you are looking to make.
